Sometimes Giving Thanks Can Be Hard Work

Sometimes, giving thanks is hard work.  Lots going on in your life.  You may be feeling over-worked and under-appreciated either at work or at home or both.  We all experience those moments or sometimes weeks…from some wives/moms I’ve heard it can feel like years!  If you are in a difficult season or you’re just having a rotten day, I challenge you to take a deep breath and then offer God the sacrifice of your praise.

I heard from a mentor once that “A sacrifice isn’t a sacrifice unless it’s a sacrifice.”  Chew on that for a minute.

Giving thanks is easy when you have tons to be thankful for or when your marriage is going great, bills are paid, children are healthy.  But what about those other times.  Job loss, health issues, marital trouble…  It is in these times that your praise will become a sacrifice to God; something that won’t necessarily flow naturally from your heart.  You have to be intentional in believing God’s promises, that He is still in control, He’s there even though you can’t see Him, and that He is still working…moment-by-moment on your behalf.

Give thanks to God for the blessings you have, that you’ve had in the past, and the ones you are believing for in your future.  It will open up the door for God to work in mighty ways…starting with your heart.

Psalm 116:17  “I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the Lord.”  TNIV
