In President Lincoln’s second inaugural address, he used these lines. “Until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword.” He was speaking of slavery and the civil war which ensued.
This caused me to think this. Just how much blood did Christ shed for us? After all, He paid for our every sin, (and everyone else’s too!) with drops of his own blood.
Because of that blood, we are freed.
To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood (Revelation 1:5b)
Because of that blood, we are purified from sin.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)
And we can enter the Most Holy Place, because of that blood.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, — we have the confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus. (Hebrews 10:19)
Jesus shed his blood for you and for me. Every drop that fell freed another soul from sin. Your drop is waiting for you to claim it.
“The blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from every sin.” (1 John 1:7)
