Right now, after the last few days of devotionals, we are likely riding high on adrenaline. We are proud, even haughty because we have determined to walk well with the Lord Jesus Christ as our partner and constant friend. Then we slip. DO NOT FALTER, FRIENDS!
There is a way back. God wants you to know this. He tells us the same thing He told Israel. “Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18-19). Starting over is never easy. But God forgives a repentant heart.
Consider these failures and God’s attitude of forgiveness toward us when we slip, repent and begin again.
David and Bathsheba (2 Samuel 11, 12)
The Samaritan Woman (Luke 9)
Elijah (1 Kings 18-19)
Abraham (Genesis 20)
Here is a recover plan for you.
Stop, look and listen to the Lord.
Ask for God’s wisdom and help
Stay calm. Ask God for a plan
Renew your vows
Analyze why you slipped up
Take charge of your bad habits immediately
Trust the Lord when the same situation occurs
“Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18-19).
