A Piece of Peace

Piece and peace; the two words sound the same, but the meanings are so different.

Piece can be a part taken from a larger whole, a portion, to fall to pieces/fall apart/ or unable to cope.  Peace means freedom from war, tranquility, calm, mental harmony, or a treaty.

Our trouble is that when we come to God, we bring all our little broken pieces. God wants to mend them from piece to peace, but we struggle with all those bits and fight his path to wholeness. Satan loves that.

I was living at ease, but [Satan] crushed me and broke me apart; yes, he seized me by the neck and dashed me in pieces; then he set me up for his target. (Job 16:12, AMP)

God does not want to use patches or glue to hold our bits together. (Matthew 9:16)

Instead, he wants to bring us to a new wholeness.

Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.] (John 14:27, AMP)

Prayer – Lord, make us wholly peace, for Christ. Amen
