Big Decide

Prince Albert (Victoria’s husband) first brought the Christmas tree tradition to the UK and it lived a simple life until the 1930’s when a toilet brush company made the first artificial Christmas tree

Every year the big decision is whether to go real or artificial. If real is your choice, try pine, fir and spruce. They hold their needles better than some other varieties.

Get over any guilt about cutting down live trees. Tree farmers grow millions of trees on purpose for the event and about 90% are recycled. The rest break down on their own because they are wood.

As for the artificial; no watering, no mess, and ease of handling are in their favour. However, artificial trees impact badly on the environment. Their only recycling ability is to give yours to a poor relative who hasn’t got one.

Both kinds are fire hazards and only you can decide which the right choice.  Really, it is like following Christ. Only you can decide to choose heaven over hell, eternal life over death and all the other bonuses that come from being a believer.

This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. (Deuteronomy 30:19, NIV)

Prayer- Father choosing a tree is easy. Committing our life to Christ takes courage. Lord, give us courage and Jesus.  Amen.
