I fiercely shook some water in the plastic soap container, hoping to stir up enough detergent to finish the laundry. I poured the resulting bubbles into the machine but discovered that the bottle was still so full of bubbles that the lid would not go on! Pressure from continuing bubbles prevented it!
That’s exactly how joy works. Life shakes us; we respond with the joy of Jesus, and nothing, nobody, can squash that joy. The lid just won’t go back on us. Joy keeps pouring out of us because joy begets joy.
Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. (1 Peter 1:8, KJV)
Now to Him Who is able to keep you without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [you] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight]. (Jude 1:24, AMP)
Prayer – Lord, when we are shaken, we ask that you help us to respond with everlasting joy, the kind that only you can give. Amen.
