Back in July, I had the privilege of meeting Contemporary Christian singer, Meredith Andrews. She's a little woman with a passionate heart and very powerful voice. Last month, I checked back in with her. She was off the road and her doctor was feeding her anything and everything and had told her to rest as she prepared for the birth of her first child due on August 28, 2010. Maverick Elijah Sooter arrived a little off schedule on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. Mom and baby are doing fine.
For those that may not be too familiar with Meredith Andrews, she's originally from North Carolina but currently lives in Illinois. Her debut album, The Invitation, released in 2008, introduced the world to her music . She has a sound similar to that of Britt Nicole or Jaci Velasquez, but her worship focus and style is similar to Chris Tomlin's. The message behind this first project was to invite people to experience God through worship and to challenge them to begin a relationship with Him. That theme is carried through most of the songs on the album. Songs like You Invite Me or The River, and Living Water remind listeners that God says, all who weary and heavy laden, come and find rest, peace, satisfaction and contentment. The hit radio single, You Are Not Alone, says just that. God is always here.
Her second album project, As Long as It Takes, was released in March 2010. The song Can Anybody Hear Me? from the new album is a powerful song of inspiration and encouragement to all those out there in the world struggling with issues and wondering: Is God real? Does He care? Does anybody care? Even though He seems far away, He is here and He does love us. The world needs a constant reminder that God is here no matter what. He loves us and He leaves us even when He feels so far away.
Believe it or not, Meredith will be back out performing in less than 3 weeks! Her first performances are scheduled for September 18th and 19that her home church. For a list of tour dates and locations, check out Meredith's website. Let's keep Meredith, her husband Jacob and little Maverick in our prayers. A whole new chapter in their lives is just beginning.
