Do We Worship The Authentic Or Counterfeit?

Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded.  He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood. The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt. But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts.–Exodus 7:20-22

Moses and Aaron were sent to Pharaoh to tell him to let God's people go.  In order to convince Pharaoh, God used Moses and Aaron to perform certain miracles.  When God brought the plague of blood, the Egyptians magicians were able to do the same thing.  The Authentic God turned water to blood, but the counterfeit magicians could only duplicate the plague and add to their misery.  When the Authentic brought frogs upon the land, the counterfeit made more frogs.  The counterfeit couldn't reverse the plagues, they could only add to them.

After the blood and frogs came the plague of gnats.  When the magicians tried to produce gnats (why would you want to?), they could not.  They said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God (Exodus 8:19).” The counterfeit recognizes the Authentic.

When the plague of boils hit, the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils that were on them (Exodus 9:11).  The counterfeit is affected by the Authentic.

When Moses warned Pharaoh and the Egyptians to have all the livestock and everything they owned brought to a place of shelter because of the coming hailstorm, the officials of Pharaoh feared God and hurried to bring in the belongings (Exodus 9:19-20).  The counterfeit fears the Authentic

As I was reading this, I found it interesting that the counterfeit recognizes the Authentic, yet so many people refuse to accept Him.  Satan tries to convince people that there is no God, but the Bible tells us that the demons believe and tremble (James 2:19).  The Word also says that there will be many false Christs and false prophets, counterfeits, who will appear and perform great signs and miracles (Matthew 24:24).  A solid foundation in God's Word will help us to determine the counterfeit from the Authentic.

We cannot follow both the counterfeit and the Authentic, so choose this day who you will serve.  As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord (Joshua 24:15).
