Crazy Busy

In Norma Farber’s poem, “The Queens Came Late”, several royal queens leave their busy lives behind in order to see the newborn Christ child. They brought Mary a clean dress, and a pot of soup.

They only stayed a few minutes because their responsibilities included to-do-lists, piles of laundry, uncooked dinners, business meetings and children.

“But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me (Luke 10:40 NIV).

Like Martha, we complain about unreasonable demands on our time, even though we are the ones in charge of our lists! We set our schedule. We can say no.

Lord, help us spend your time wisely. Amen.
