Christians Need To Be Open To Criticism

Jonathan Acuff recently posted on Twitter: “When Christians label all criticism as sinful judgment we lose ability to sharpen & also doom ourselves to never improving.”

Proverbs 27:17 says “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” This pops into my head right away. And I know there is a difference between positive and negative criticism. But we as Christians need to be able to take criticism and not fight against it.

I for one from time to time have fought criticism and very easily tried to turn it into judgment. It’s a loophole we think we are privileged to as Christians. As soon as we disagree with something we use our Bibles to fight against it. We pick and choose what to follow and discard the rest. Ok starting to get off subject here. But you know what I am talking about, right?

I’m just trying to say be open to criticism, especially from fellow Christians. “Iron sharpens iron,” as long as our pride doesn’t block it.
