Christmas puts strain on us to bring out the best recipes and dazzle our friends and relatives. Here is one you might like to try.
Toffee Cheesecake Pie
1 ½ cups butterscotch chips (or any kind but chocolate!)
16 ounces cream cheese (softened to room temperature.)
8 ounces frozen whipped topping (thawed to room temperature)
9inch cooked pie shell (pastry or graham crackers)
½ cup toffee candy bar, broken into bits
Carefully melt chips in large microwave bowl. Stir in cheese and then whipped topping. Pour into baked pie shell. Cool for several hours and then sprinkle on the broken bits of candy bar.
This is quite rich and can serve eight or more people.
Why do I speak of cheese cake in a devotional? Why indeed! Christmas is a big deal in my home. We celebrate the risen king. I am not about to serve liver to honour the Christ-child. No siree!
How do you celebrate the child born in a manger, raised to die on a cross for our sins? Risen from the dead by the Great almighty God? Surely not with liver!!!
While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. She gave birth to a son, her firstborn. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the inn. (Luke 2:6-7)
