Dead and Buried

“Put it in a plastic grocery bag. Tie it shut. Now put the plastic bag into a large green garbage bag. Tie it shut. Put the whole thing into the heavy garbage container out back and fasten the lid so nothing can get out! In fact, maybe you should put a stone on top of the container as well”

My son replied, “Mom, the mouse is dead. It is not going anywhere.”

Our sin is a dead and buried as that mouse, as soon as we sincerely ask God to forgive us for the things we have done wrong. I did not check on that mouse to be sure it was dead, but on occasion I keep revisiting my old sins

In our minds…we know it but …but still…it is a mouse…and maybe it is not really dead… We secretly are sure, as our mothers would say that our sins will find us out! We sometimes act as if we are not forgiven, even though God repeatedly tells us otherwise.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;  as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:11-12, NIV)

Prayer: Lord, help us to see ourselves the way you see us. Forgiven, in Christ alone. Amen.
