Fat Quarters

No, I am not referring to the size of your hips or mine. Any quilter will know what I am talking about. A fat quarter is a 1/4 yard of fabric created by cutting a half of a yard and then cutting that piece into two sections 18″ x 22″.

You might ask why anyone would want to do that. This allows a sewer to buy small bits of coordinated fabrics; enough to make a quilt without having to buy too much.

How much do you buy, maybe not in quilt fabric but in other stuff? Are you like the folks on those hoarder shows? Some of them stalk enough food for ten to 15 years. Who needs that? Think of the fear involved with that much greed.

Greed is a strong desire for more than you actually need. We are greedy about money, things and even relationships.

What if we just collected stuff in the amounts we needed and shared the rest with folks who have little or none?

The greedy bring ruin to their households. (Proverbs 15:27a, NIV)

The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper. (Proverbs 28:25, NIV)

We blame the world and its standards for many of our failings but the Bible says its all from within us.

For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”(Mark 7:21-23, NIV)

Prayer – Father, please cleanse us, inside and out! Amen
