I have the grandchildren with me. Hush! Listen carefully! Can you hear their voices and see the mess about the house? Fingerprints, crumbs, and toys cover every surface. And they’ve only been here a few hours.
Sometimes on days like this, it is hard to remember this.
Don’t you see that children are God’s best gift; the fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth. Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you; you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep. (Psalm 127:3-5, MSG)
How do parents keep up with cleaning, homework, expenses and everything else that goes with kids? Even worse how do single parents keep up?
Childhood is the perfect state of bliss if we remember our own childhood and allow our children to experience theirs as children and not mini adults.
Don’t forget. Jesus loved little children and called them to him. (See Luke 18:15-17, MSG)
Prayer- Lord, when we are impatient with our little ones, remind us that we too were once little and untrained, both physically and spiritually. Amen.
