Small Things

It’s the small things that often catch our attention.

And having made a lash (a whip) of cords, He drove them all out of the temple. (John 2:15a, AMP)

Did you catch that? Jesus made the whip which he then used to force the sellers and money changers out of the temple.

So I start asking myself questions like this. Where did he get the ropes/leather? Did he grab the disciples’ belts? Why didn’t he just yell?

None of that really matters but the actual results do.

The temple was cleansed (verse 15-16). The disciples remembered this scripture (Verse 17).

For zeal for Your house has eaten me up, and the reproaches and insults of those who reproach and insult You have fallen upon me (Psalm 69:9).

The Jews asked for a sign and it gave Jesus the opportunity to speak of his death and resurrection (verses 18-21).

And later on the disciples remembered this and understood his real message and they believed, trusted and relied on the Scriptures and on the message Jesus gave them (verse 22).

You just never know what comes of the little things we do.

Prayer- Lord when we feel like we are getting no where—we will do the little things, for the little things always lead to big things. Thanks, God. Amen.
