Generosity Across America

While much has been made of the pain and plight of the current recession, there are just as many stories of service and giving that have sprung up in these hard times. Last week, ABC’s “Good Morning America” ran a segment that featured just a few examples of generosity that are springing up around the nation.

ABC featured an Ohio daycare center that offers free care for out-of-work parents looking for work and a New York dry cleaner who is cleaning outfits for free for people who need them for job interviews. If you look hard enough, you’ll probably find the same thing going on in your community.

The segment also featured a Dallas-area ministry that offers birthday parties and gifts for children in need with the hope of touching these children with the love of Christ.

Birthday Blessing was birthed from a Christmas service and outreach event held last year by Lifepoint Fellowship Church of McKinney, Texas. Birthday Blessing founder Patricia Morris told ABC: “My vision is to have this birthday blessing all over the world so that every child’s life is celebrated.”

Celebrating life and the gift of God’s love. Is there anything more important that we can offer others?
