Years ago, Ron and I took a boat excursion tour which included lunch at a luxury resort. It turned out to be a cold blustery day, but Ron was out on the deck, loving every moment. I huddled in fear near the life jackets. The resort served a cold plate meant for a 75 degree day. Ron loved it. I huddled with hands around the only warm thing offered—a cup of coffee.
Ron eagerly boarded the ship for the return trip. I dreaded more cold, and huddled in fear near the life jackets. You’d think we were on two different trips. He loved it. I hated it.
Folks, if we asked Jesus into our lives, into a personal relationship with him, we are all on the same trip. We are travelling toward heaven. We will all get there, but some of us will enjoy the journey and some of us won’t. Which would you rather be? Why not enjoy the ride? We’re going anyway!
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10, NIV)
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters. (James 1:2a, NIV)
Prayer – Lord, give us courage to enjoy the trip. Amen
