Months ago, still in the depths of grief, I was asked to do a speaking event on a church on March 2. Because of the circumstances, I recognized God’s hand in it and promptly agreed to go. That’s why I’m travelling to a speaking engagement some distance away on my 50th wedding anniversary.
Ron and I always wanted to have a big celebration on our 50th. Today I face it alone. Yet not alone, because God is throwing me a party! The guest list even includes relatives and friends who just happen go to this particular church.
I am excited, fearful, anxious, depressed, happy and adventurous all at the same time. I’d appreciate your prayers as I travel 2-3 hours through a Canadian winter, to the biggest party of my life.
“If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times; I’ll rescue you, then throw you a party. I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!” (Psalm 91:13-15, MSG)
Prayer: Lord, You amaze us with Your constant care. Thank you that You enjoy giving us the desires of our heart! (Psalm 37:4) In Christ. Amen.
