How to Fail at Marriage

Do You…

-give your relationship with your spouse minority priority after in-laws, children?

-take your spouse for granted?

-expect your spouse to meet your every need?

-manipulate, criticize, accuse or belittle your spouse, even in public?

-spend more time with your buddies or girl friends than you do with your spouse?

-still cling to your mommy and daddy?

-belittle your spouse’s parents, other relatives?

-hold a grudge, refuse to forgive?

-commit adultery, with your eyes, mind and even your body?

-you fantasize about other relationships, watch pornography?

-insist on having all financial control?

-take out work (etc) frustrations on your spouse?

In Matthew 22, Jesus tells of a king who invited people to his son’s wedding feast. This is the response of some who did not take marriage seriously.

But they were not concerned and paid no attention [they ignored and made light of the summons, treating it with contempt] and they went away—one to his farm, another to his business. (Matthew 22:5, AMP)

Isn’t it a shame when the bride or the groom do the same?

Prayer: Father God, we help us to be the kind of marriage partner that cherishes the other in every way. In Christ. Amen.
