Good Fences Make Good Neighbors

Overcome with spiders on my front porch, I sought out a way to get them to move.

I did a word search on how to get rid of spiders and found dozens of ways to kill them off. I didn’t want to kill them exactly. I am happy to live and let live. I just wanted them out of my space.

Next, I looked up plants that spiders don’t like and found this list.

Basil, Lavender, Mint, Rosemary, Lemon Balm, Chrysanthemum, Citronella Grass, Lemon Verbena, Sage, Dill, Chives, Catnip, Marigolds, Eucalyptus

Of course, each of these plants also have good and bad characteristics, but marigolds and my spiders are gone. Enjoy your bug free space.

Just like we can overcome spiders in our physical lives, we can also overcome our spiritual pests, even eating some if necessary.

“All winged insects that go on all fours are detestable to you. Yet among the winged insects that go on all fours you may eat those that have jointed legs above their feet, with which to hop on the ground. Of them you may eat: the locust of any kind, the bald locust of any kind, the cricket of any kind, and the grasshopper of any kind. But all other winged insects that have four feet are detestable to you. (Leviticus 11:20-23)
