No, I did not mean to say happenstance. Happenstance is an accident, a fluke or a quirky event. For instance you meet someone while you are out shopping; someone that you intended to call later in the day. That is happenstance.
Half-in-stance is different. The dictionary hasn’t caught up with this word yet, but it will. Half-in-stance is meeting someone halfway.
You know that argument you had with your spouse about spending too much on groceries? Will you accept part of the blame? Can you understand that he is worried about paying the hydro bill?
When the children don’t keep their room tidy, ask yourself if you have taught them how to tidy?
When you ask God for forgiveness…he meets you halfway. You have to forgive as well.
“In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can’t get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God’s part. (Matthew 6:14-15, MSG)
Prayer – Lord, I have so many half way journeys to make. Help me get started. Amen
