Halloween

I say Halloween and you think costumes, masks, fun, parties, and candy. However, statistics show that on that day there are more pedestrian fatalities, theft, and vandalism. Young children are particularly at risk. And those risks are highest from five pm till 11 pm on October 31. Suggestions include reflective clothing, parent accompaniment, and limited parking.

And yes, there is more vandalism in the name of fun and more thefts because houses are empty. Fires occur from unattended candles; confused animals who sometimes attack.

The overall cure is light! Light chases away the darkness. People see better in the light. People are safer in the light. Always choose the light.

Jesus is the light.

Jesus said to the people, “I am the Light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path.

(John 8:12, LB)

Jesus calls us to be a light to others.

You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of people who are crooked and stubborn. Shine out among them like beacon lights.

(Philippians 2:15b, LB)

Is your light shining brightly?
