Do you ever feel that your circumstances are unbearable, that you can’t move on; that the overwhelming pain or loss or struggle will take you down? You are not alone.
As long as Moses kept his hands raised, the Israelites were on the winning side of their battle with Amalek… however…
Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. (Exodus 17:12, KJV)
I expect Aaron and Hur weren’t just standing there thinking about the weather. They must have been crying out to God, maybe even saying something like this (but in Hebrew of course!)
“Oh, God, it’s bad enough that Moses is too tired to keep his hands up so we can win the battle, but our hands are tired too. Sustain us Lord; give us strength over our enemies”
That strength comes from prayer. Moses had his own prayer team. Who is on yours? Reach out and ask the faithful around you to hold your hands up–in the bad times as well as the good times!
Prayer – Lord, who do you want on my prayer team? And who should I be praying for? Amen
