Holding On

My friend suggested I hold a glass of water. Humph. Not hard at all; but when she suggested I hold it at arms length for an extended time? Whew—quite a difference.

So of course I ask myself (and you too!) what are we holding onto that is dragging us down, wearing us out and crippling our service for God? (see Hebrews 12:1-3)

I’ll confess first. It’s been a long, hard summer with lots of extra duties I hadn’t planned on. Were they necessary? Yes, because family is family and we do what we can to help. Am I worn out and tired and dreading some upcoming stuff in my own schedule? Absolutely.

Now it’s your turn. I’ll wait.……………………

Prayer- Lord, may our decision be to hold on to what is good! (1 Thessalonians 5:21b, NIV) and let go of everything else. In Christ who let go of everything on our behalf. Amen.
