You might think this is fun. I have never been and hope not to go. It is a very cold sport. Personally, I would never trust the ice to be solid enough to sustain me.
Ice fishing is not for the faint of heart, nor for those with a weakness for cold toes. Yet sometimes God calls us to go ice fishing, to venture out in unknown territory to do things previously unknown to us.
One of my friends, to please her husband, went with him to ice fish. He dangled a fishing line in a hole in the ice. She, however, stayed in the warm hut, snuggled by the heater and went to sleep.
Her tongue-in-cheek comments? “Oh, yes, ice fishing is SOOOOOOO much fun!”
My personal ice has included employment changes, sickness, the loss of beloved family members and more.
I skated over that ice with Jesus supporting me. Not once did I fall into an open fishing ice fishing hole …except on those days I didn’t trust God to keep me upright. Think about it. Peter could just have easily been walking on ice.
And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, then he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. (Matthew 14:29, KJV)
Prayer- No matter our path, Lord, There you are and we say thank you all over again. Amen.
