Isn’t it strange that exactly five years to the date of Joran Van der Sloot and brothers being arrested for the murder of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, this man confesses to the murder of another young woman in Peru? This is a lesson that all young women should take to heart immediately.
It truly makes one wonder what perpetrates this kind of behavior? Is he a serial killer with his first being that of Natalee? Or is he just a man with a huge rage problem? Allegedly, he was certainly very sloppy with the murder in Peru. (He confessed, so we don’t really have to use the word alleged, but it would be safer.)
What makes this story even worse, there was an undercover video made by Peter de Vries. (The news reporter who received a glass of red wine in the face from Van der Sloot for some pointed questions he asked.) In this video (all in Dutch) was aired on Dutch television and, according to the translation which aired on one of our news shows here in the States, was of Van der Sloot smoking marijuana and admitting to being present when Natalee was murdered. If I remember the story correctly, de Vries hired someone to make nice with Van der Sloot and get him to admit to killing Natalee Holloway in Aruba, and to get all the details about it. After hours and hours of conversation, the two were in a car going somewhere and Van der Sloot spilled all stopping short at admitting to murder. (It was all in Dutch and I had to rely upon the translations being accurate.) Authorities, perhaps Interpol or even our own FBI, should have pursued this with a tenacity a bulldog would be proud of then perhaps Stephany Ramíerez would still be alive.
The man is wanted for wire fraud and extortion here in the States because he contacted a friend of Natalee’s mom and allegedly solicited $250,000 to reveal where the young woman’s body is located. Beth Twitty immediately contacted the FBI who told her to go along with the extortion so they could arrest him on those charges.
It has been reported by CBS and other news services that the Aruba authorities did not prosecute Van der Sloot even though he was arrested twice for her murder, and he was video taped confessing to get someone to “dump her body”. The Aruba authorities released him both times for insufficient evidence. The video was captured one month after Natalee’s disappearance.
On May 30, 2010 exactly five years to the day from Natalee Holloway’s mysterious disappearance, in Lima, Peru, Stephany Ramíerez was murdered in Joran Van der Sloot’s hotel room. The Peruvian authorities said she died “from blunt force trauma to her head”. On June 7th, he confessed to killing her, Van der Sloot stated, “I did not want to do it. The girl intruded into my private life . . . she didn't have any right. I went to her and I hit her. She was scared, we argued and she tried to escape. I grabbed her by the neck and hit her.” All because he came back to the room and found her using his computer.
We have all been so angry that we’ve wanted to strike out at someone, but there is no excuse for this, no matter that she was using his laptop. Cain raised his hand against his brother Able in this kind of anger. I cannot believe that this these were his only crimes of passion.
My question is how many more young women are in unmarked graves because this man was allowed to go free, and was allowed to extort as much as $25,000 from one of his alleged victims’ family. That is a travesty beyond comprehension. Even more importantly, it is a lesson for all young women. Never, ever go off with anyone you barely know. No matter where you are, at home or abroad, it can be far too costly.
I thought it was Stephanie Flores.
Thank you for the comment and keeping me on my toes… Her full name is Stephany Flores Ramirez. Click on the link above 🙂
