Jumping to Conclusions

When Joseph’s brothers sold him off as a slave, they concocted this story to cover their tracks.

They took Joseph’s coat, butchered a goat, and dipped the coat in the blood. They took the fancy coat back to their father and said, “We found this. Look it over—do you think this is your son’s coat?”(Genesis 37:31-32, MSG)

They didn’t really lie; they simply left everything up to their father’s fertile imagination. You see, Jacob had a long history of always expecting and fearing the worst. (Genesis 34:30)

And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28, AMP)

Will you trust God, no matter what news you get today?

Prayer-Lord, when our imaginations run away with our brains, draw in the reins of our mind. Amen
