So read this prayer of Jabez and tell me what is missing.
Jabez cried to the God of Israel, saying, Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and You would keep me from evil so it might not hurt me! And God granted his request. (1 Chronicles 4:10, AMP)
If we said this prayer for the first time in our church today it would most likely sound like this.
Jabez cried to the God of Israel, saying, Oh, that You would JUST bless me and JUST enlarge my border, and that Your hand might JUST be with me, and You would JUST keep me from evil so it might not hurt me! And God granted his request
Why is it that we so often demean our prayers with the word JUST, praying as though we are saying…you can just about do this, Lord.
Examine your prayers. What are we really saying to God? Is our faith exposed there?
Prayer- Lord, help us pray with conviction, believing that what you say you will do. Amen.
