He used to insult people all the time, but then he’d say, “Oh, I’m just joking!” and you were supposed to let it go; forgive him to prove that you could take a joke.
Actually, he spoke rude and hurtful things to everybody, everywhere.
Like a madman who casts firebrands, arrows, and death, So is the man who deceives his neighbor and then says, Was I not joking? (Proverbs 26:18-19, AMP)
What comes out of our mouths is always what we are thinking in our hearts. It bodes us well to ask for that heart to be cleansed because we can’t do it ourselves.
Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? (Proverbs 20:9, AMP)
Prayer – Oh God we ask that you create in each of us a clean heart, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within us. Amen. (From Psalm 51:10)
