Keeping a Check

I was shocked to find a work pen in my bag. I guess I threw it in there without thinking, but I will return it as soon as I can.

I work at being scrupulously honest. It may seem a small inconsequential thing to you, but my boss does not pay me to steal pens or paperclips.

People should be able to count on Christians to tell the truth and act accordingly; right?

Let’s do a spring cleaning of our book shelves for DVD’s books, tapes and more…things that do not belong to us. What about the sweater we borrowed, the rake from next door?

Check carefully. Return the borrowed things. Wipe our brow with relief. We really are honest.

“When an ordinary member of the congregation sins unintentionally, straying from one of the commandments of God which must not be broken, he is guilty. (Leviticus 4:27, NIV)

“You shall not steal.” (Exodus 20:15, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, we are sorry for stealing. We just misunderstood the term borrow and forget it means return to lender. Amen.
