In the depths of despair after my husband’s death ten years ago, my daughter wrote this verse on a recipe card and gave it to me. I wasn’t very impressed then, but I recently came across it again.
Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
(Psalm 103:1-5, NIV)
Now I see that God did all that he promised me then.
I needed a word from God and he spoke it to my daughter and she gave it to me.
These last years, I continued to praise the Lord, I remembered all his goodness to me. Over time, he drew me out of the pits of despair. He continually shows his love to me. He’s satisfied me again and again with surprising good things and given me a reason to keep living.
Thank God for people who listen when God speaks.
