LeBron James is headed to Miami – as if you hadn’t heard the news.
There are two ways to look at this.
First is from the sports perspective, which I can’t deny as a writer and a fan.
Will the triumvirate of James, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade bring a championship to Miami within the next three years, if not sooner? It would be foolish to bet against.
Granted, the Eastern Conference still has the Big Four in Boston (Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett) and Dwight Howard’s power presence in Orlando. Chicago now has a less-star studded but potential 50-plus game winner trio in Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and free agent pickup Carlos Boozer.
And don’t forget the Lakers have won back-to-back titles. It’s not as if Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol are going to throw up their hands in desperation when they look to South Florida.
The other aspect, which I also get as a professional, father and fairly ordinary suburban middle-aged guy, is…so what?
EDC blogger Karyn Brownlee (@KarynBrownlee on Twitter), retweeted a post from Grand Rapids, Mich., Christian radio station host Derek Lee (@DerekLee883) which read: “Thinking how much time has been spent talking about Lindsay (Lohan) and LeBron, and how little I actually give a rip. Talk about SOMETHING else pls!”
Derek, I get it and don’t disagree, even without getting into all the Lohan legal melodrama.
If anything it’s a reminder where the order should be for people of faith. (Exodus 20:4-6)
