The sad thing is that by now our resolutions have loped across our mind and out again. Yes we were determined to lose that extra five pounds, stop the smoking, vaping, swearing…I don’t know your issue. Just pick one why don’t you? You know what it is.
I am still a member of a weight loss group but this week one might say a weight gain group!
I have a workout pal who nudges me into daily exercise, but if she is weak so am I!
I take great comfort in this verse. We are ‘light’ in the Lord, Ephesians 5:8).
But in all fairness, even though we are not perfect, let’s examine how far we have come over the years
I no longer binge and purge. (Read my story in Meeting Myself-Snippets from a binging and bulging mind)
Now most of the time, I am a gourmet, a connoisseur, who carefully selects and savours every bite. Most of the time, I’m in command of my taste buds and hunger because I have self control.
You might not think so some of the days but I am standing on God’s promise to me.
The Holy Spirit gives the spiritual fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control, (better known as self-restraint, or continence).
I have self control, just some days I override it!
Is this you too? Let’s band together and move ourselves under the control of the Holy Spirit
The gourmand uses food to comfort, but a gourmet delights in the comfort of the Holy Spirit. Over time, the gourmet me is winning out because I want the Holy Spirit to fully enjoy His home. After all, my body is his temple. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
Prayer – Lord, be our comfort and our truth and our strength please…Amen For Christ’s sake. Amen.
