Missed

Not long before he died, my late husband Ron fixed a rocking chair for a neighbor’s darling little four-year-old. At Christmas time, the little one asked if Ron had a rocking chair in heaven.

Possibly, like me, your thoughts are turning to heaven and dearly beloved family and friends who have passed on. I don’t know about rocking chairs but these things I do know.

It is best to face our grief head on. How can we pretend it isn’t there? We need to cry as long as we need to. God understands our pain. After all, His Son died too. And like Jesus, who was raised from the dead, our loved ones in Christ will do the same.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14- Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him (NIV).

Prayer: Thank you God for loving us enough to tell us that our loved ones are safe with you and that we will see them again. In Christ. Amen.
