My Country’s Birthday (Part One, Cont. July 4)

How much do we really understand or care about our country’s values?

People came here expecting a good land and good people and equal opportunities.

(Genesis 12:1)

Everyone except Indigenous families are here because somebody was first an immigrant.

People came from all over the land to find Jesus.

(Mark 6:56)

Do you help your friends and neighbors do that in your country?

Some squander their country, making the place worse by their very presence.

(Luke 15:13

Many ignore the truth about a fellow countryman/woman.

For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.

(John 4:44, NASB)

Misunderstanding and hate boils over and actions ruin their country’s reputation.

They also put Him to death by hanging Him on a cross.

(Acts 10:39)

What are you doing for your country, your neighbours and the friends you haven’t met yet?

“Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country. “If not us, who? If not now, when?”

– John F. Kennedy
