As I said in the February 28, 2017 devotional, it is the fad right now to pick a word for the year. I didn’t tell you my word, and here are my thoughts on why I didn’t.
If I tell you my word, would it still be my word? Then it would be our word, wouldn’t it? And you would wonder what on earth it means to me and my life and if it applies to you and you might even try to compare my word to yours.
A circumstance earlier in the week made me realize that the word may not be so much about me as it is about how I am to help others. Therefore I am going to tell you my word… eventually!
Meanwhile…
A friend decided to pray the following verses over me. If my name comes to your mind, perhaps you might be so kind as to pray them as well.
This is what the Lord says—“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, that they may proclaim my praise. (From Isaiah 43:16-21, NIV)
Prayer – Lord we all need a word from you and there are millions of them in your Word, the Bible. Point us to the words you offer us today. Amen
