Nativities and Angels

I expect you have your nativity scene displayed already. If you decorate for Christmas, it is a requirement. After all without the birth of Christ, we wouldn’t be celebrating the holiday at all.

Do be kind enough to give him a bit of room on your mantel at least.

Then take the time to investigate why there is a Christ in Christmas.

Caesar Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Empire. So Joseph went from the Galilean town of Nazareth up to Bethlehem in Judah, David’s town, for the census. He went with Mary, his fiancée, who was pregnant.

While they were there, she gave birth to a son, her firstborn. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the hostel.

God’s angel stood among the shepherds and God’s glory blazed around them. The angel said,

“Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody, worldwide: A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master.

This is what you’re to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger.”

They found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. Seeing was believing. They told everyone they met what the angels had said about this child. (From Luke 2, MSG)

Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. (Luke 7:22, KJV)

Prayer- Lord, we pray that today that people come to understand that Christmas is all about the Christ. Amen.
