I’ve written several devotionals and no matter who gets one, the first date they look at is their own birthday or anniversary! Finally, I asked a friend why this was so.
She replied, “Well it’s like my own personal horoscope!
Now, friends, that is just plain laughable. I write my devotionals as the topic occurs to me. I am not thinking about Betty who was born on the 20th of January or Fred who married on the 15th of May! The same holds true of some newspaper writer who declares how you should live your day. A few lines from that writer can’t possibly speak to everyone who reads them.
Dozens of Bible verses speak against the occult in any form.
He burned his sons as an offering and used fortune-telling and omens and sorcery, and dealt with mediums and with necromancers.
(From2 Chronicles 33:6 ESV)
Necromancer-a person who practices necromancy; a wizard or magician. witch, magician, warlock, diviner, occultist, voodooist, sorceress, enchanter, enchantress, magus, medicine man, medicine woman, shaman, witch doctor, black magic sorcery, conjure woman, or spellcaster
But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this.
(Deuteronomy 18:14b, RSV)
