New Wardrobe

Colossians 3:12-14- Chosen by God for this new life of love, I dress in this wardrobe He picked out for me: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline.   I am even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offence.  I forgive as quickly as the Master forgives.  And regardless of what else I put on I wear love. It is my basic, all-purpose garment. I never want to be without it, (MSG)

Every season brings a new catalogue to our door. Each one seems determined to make me feel shabby and out of style. My hems are suddenly the wrong length. The blues I’ve been wearing must now be set aside for the ‘in’ greens. My clothes are fitted but baggy is now in style.

I used to be intimidated by all this worldly information, until I read Colossians 3:12-14. God’s wardrobe has no hem length, color chart or bagginess. It is right to the point. It will never wear out.

I put it one every morning and pray none of it slips. Qualities like compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline, even-temper, contentment and forgiveness will never be out of style.

Prayer: Lord, help us dress to please you, everyday, forever. Amen
