“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower, And bread to the eater, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth. It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11).
So knowing this, Jesus spoke up when he was fasting in the wilderness. He did not think himself to overcoming satan. He actually spoke the words aloud.
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”(Matthew 4:4, NASB)
So I ask… what you sound like when you speak.
- I will never conquer this bad habit.
- My kids cause me no end of trouble.
- My job is so awful.
- I hate my boss.
- Does God even know where I am?
Well then folks, you speak what you say and you say what you get because you have settled it in your own mind.
Instead, find scriptures that speak to your problem and memorise them and say then out loud!
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.’ (From Hebrews 4:12).
Prayer- God, remind us to use our mouths for what you intended. Thanks. Amen.
