Humble (the opposite of pride) people ask for help if they need it. They have learned to depend on God. They have learned the foolishness of self-reliance.
Remain in me, as I remain in you. No branch bears fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you bear fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
(John 15:4, NIV)
Did you catch that? And this?
The NIV starts this next section with the words, Humble Service in the Body of Christ. Are you there yet?
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.
(Romans 12:3, NIV)
Friend, where do you stand? Is it in the place of pride and self-reliance? What a waste of a life.
