What if we actually believed God? What if we actually took him at his word in every possible way? Just think about the last minutes Jesus had with his disciples. Do you know what he said-repeatedly? I say that again… REPEATEDLY! He begins in John 14:11-14.
“Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can’t believe that, believe what you see—these works. The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do. (MSG)
And again Jesus says practically the same words in John 15:7-8, 14, John 15:16, 23-24 AND again in John 16:26-27! Yes, with his last moments, his almost dying breath, he says REPEATEDLY…
Until now you have not asked [the Father] for anything in My name; but now ask and keep on asking and you will receive, so that your joy may be full and complete.! (John 16:24, AMP)
So WHAT IF we actually believe the very words Jesus was pounding into his disciples’ heads… and hearts?
Prayer – Father give us the courage to believe… and then the grace to pray that way. Amen
