I guess the season of S.A.D (seasonal affective disorder) is over for now, at least in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s also called Winter Depression or The Winter Blues. Symptoms include loss of interest, energy, fatigue, and feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness.
The symptoms remind me of a spiritually sad disorder that leaves us in the same kind of mess.
2 Corinthians 7:10- For godly grief and the pain God is permitted to direct, produce a repentance that leads and contributes to salvation and deliverance from evil, and it never brings regret; but worldly grief (the hopeless sorrow that is characteristic of the pagan world) is deadly [breeding and ending in death].
1 Samuel 12:21-And turn not aside after vain and worthless things which cannot profit or deliver you, for they are empty and futile (AMP).
The treatments for S.A.D. include getting more sun light by going outside a half hour per day and getting stronger indoor lighting.
Oddly enough the treatment for spiritual sadness is much the same. We just need to get a little more Son light.
Hebrews 1:2-3a- but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word (NIV).
2 Samuel 22: 29-30- You, LORD, are my lamp; the LORD turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall (NIV).
Now there is a treatment worth taking!
Prayer: Lord, we have to live with some of our bodily ailments, but thanks to Jesus, your Son, we can overcome lots of them. Amen.
