Sarah Palin chose freedom

Sarah Palin chose freedom. She'll be free from the Alaska governor's office at the end of July. But she will probably never be free from the press. Certainly Palin will remain a public figure for the rest of her life. Once a celebrity, always a celebrity.

Whether you agree with Palin's life decisions or not, you surely agree she is a strong person. She's not afraid to take the stage or take a stand. I applaud her adamant stance on marriage and courageous expressions of faith. But I am eager to see what comes from this latest bold decision to leave her office early. Is it just another honest move from a woman committed to what's best for Alaska? Or is it more?

Some predict that she will run for president in 2012 and this is just a preparatory step. Others say she has no chance in the next presidential race, especially in light of this unexpected decision to leave her term as governor before she finishes the job. Still others predict there is another shoe yet to drop.

The media has beaten up on Sarah Palin more than any other political figure in years. From journalists to comedians, the nation has attacked Palin's family and reputation mercilessly. Is it possible that she is stepping down because she believes it to be God's will for her and her family? She is quite open about her faith in Jesus Christ. It would be reasonable to assume she made this decision after a great deal of prayer.

Palin is characteristically unconventional. It is not a stretch to imagine she has decided to step out of the government game and into a new one. Palin has many open doors of opportunity through which she may make a positive difference. Wherever she heads, I'm predicting that as she closes the governor's office door, she won't let it hit her on the way out.

Karyn Brownlee: “The media has beaten up on Sarah Palin more than any other political figure in years.” How, exactly, has the media “beaten up” on palin? And if she can’t criticism, how the heck does she or anyone else presume she can run the country? Also, palin can dish it out, but she can’t take it: “Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin said Saturday, October 4, that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is ‘someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country.'” http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/05/fact-check-is-obama-palling-around-with-terrorists/ This is false, so palin’s either a liar or just misinformed.
