Smiles Work

The sign said, 

1. 5 dollars for “a small coffee.”
2. 3 dollars for “A small coffee, please.” 
3. 1.75 for “Hello, can I have a small coffee, please!”

I wonder if we added a comment about the weather would we get the coffee free?

It’s such a little thing to be polite, especially in these days of lockdown and separation. 

Even your live-in family would appreciate a “Hi, did you have a good rest? Eggs will be ready in a moment.

Do you find yourself unexpectedly rude? Why is that? Heat? Impatience? Self- gratification?

Others have the same feelings but when two collide, it’s a nasty business. How would it be if you are the one who calms things down with a” Hi, how are you today? Can I have a small coffee please?”

These words I speak to you are not mere additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundation words, words to build a life on. (Luke 6:46-47b, MSG)
