Solitude is basically just being alone. It’s what we do with that alone time that counts. When Facebook and its other entities went down for a few hours many folks panicked. Oh, what would they do without online people to chat with?
Guess what! Some people actually had face-to-face chats with real live family members! Yes! Imagine the horrors of that! I saw gals pushing their baby’s carriage and actually speaking to the baby, instead of gazing into their phone!
Solitude is freedom from exterior noises like social media, TV, radio, and more. Those noises prevent us from hearing God when he tries to get our attention.
Solitude does not have to be hard work, but if you accept the blessing it can be. Imagine you alone with yourself, learning about yourself, hearing from God!
“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.
