Spirit versus Flesh (Part 1)

You might think you want to die, but when the time comes you will fight it mightily; maybe not in spirit but in body. I have been with so many dying loved one, who struggled to breathe while their words said that they just wanted to die.

Oh, God, my Lord, step in; work a miracle for me—you can do it! Get me out of here—your love is so great! — I’m at the end of my rope, my life in ruins. I’m fading away to nothing, passing away, my youth gone, and old before my time. I’m weak from hunger and can hardly stand up, my body a rack of skin and bones. I’m a joke in poor taste to those who see me; they take one look and shake their heads. (Psalm 109:21-25, MSG)

It seems then that our bodies are tougher than we think. Let’s remember that on those days when it is hard to get out of the chair, wash the dishes or even answer the phone. We are tougher than we think. Let’s not wait till death to find that out.

God’s sovereignly brought me to my knees; he cut me down in my prime. “Oh, don’t,” I prayed, “please don’t let me die. You have more years than you know what to do with! (Psalm 102:23-24, MSG)

Prayer- Lord, give us the courage to live fully each day you give to us. Amen.
