Try as we might, we can’t get away from the Ten Commandments because they are also stated in the New Testament. We know this because Jesus says “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. “(Matthew 5:17, KJV)
- Have no other Gods before me (Exodus 20:2-3, Matthew 4:10)
- Do not worship idols. (Exodus 20:4-6, 1Cor 10:14)
- Don’t use the Lord’s name in vain. (Exodus 20:7, 1Timothy 6:1)
- Remember the Sabbath to keep it holy. (Exodus 20:8-11, Luke 6:5)
- Honour your parents. (Exodus 20:12, Ephesians 6:1-3)
- Do not kill. (Exodus 20:13, Mark 10:19)
- Do not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14, Matthew 5:27-28)
- Do not steal. Exodus 20:15, Ephesians 4:28)
- Do not covet. (Exodus 20:17, Luke 12:15)
- Do not bear false witness. (Exodus 20:16, Mark 10:19)
Prayer – Lord, Help us to love you and also to love our neighbour as ourselves, for in that we sum up the law and the prophets! Amen (From Matthew 22:38-40)
