Therefore Jesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that a large crowd was coming to Him, said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these may eat?” This He was saying to test him, for He Himself knew what He was intending to do.
(John 6:5-6, NIV)
When we don’t think we have enough…Jesus knows what he intends to do. Do you remember that he first prayed? And there was enough.
More than once, I’ve thrown myself against the oven door and prayed that the food be enough for unexpected company.
In the midst of our perceived shortages, God calls us to remember all the times he met our needs.
And Jesus said “Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart? Having eyes, do you not see? Having ears, do you not hear? Do you not remember, when I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces you picked up?” They*said “Twelve.”
(From Mark 8:17-21, NIV)
Dare we pray this?
Examine me, O Lord, and try me. Test my mind and my heart.
(Psalm 26:2, NIV)
