Ten Commandments Then & Now – Part Two

THEN- Thou shalt not kill.(Exodus 20:13, KJV)

NOW- So I took him out with my words, I plotted ways to get even. I made revenge my tool and eventually I killed him.

THEN- Thou shall not commit adultery. (Exodus 20:14, KJV)

NOW-But God she looked so cute and my wife has let herself go. That woman definitely flirted with me. It is not my fault. I only watch pornography online. I only look, God, truly.

THEN- Thou shalt not steal. (Exodus 20:15, KJV)

NOW- I only ate a few grapes to test them before I bought. The office has lots of pens; they won’t miss ______ . I need it more than they do. They don’t pay me enough.

THEN- Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. (Exodus 20:16, KJV)

NOW- Boy did you see that new woman across the street. They seem to have a lot of money. I wonder where she gets it. Lots of people go in there. I bet they are drug dealers.

THEN- Thou shalt not covet.

NOW- How can they afford that new car? Life isn’t fair. I can’t afford a new car! His wife is sure hot! I wonder if I should go for coffee. I like the car and the wife. Room to explore there!

The truth is that God’s words are Gods words THEN and NOW, and they are meant to be obeyed.

The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. (Psalm 12:6, KJV)

Prayer- Lord, give us the common sense to obey your word as it is without translating it into our own version of sin. Amen.
